We assume a triage-and-drafting assistant can realistically hand back about 60% of routine email-handling time. The rest still needs you.
Triage (read, classify, decide, draft a first pass) is repetitive and context-dependent rather than judgement-heavy, and it's most of the time in most inboxes we've looked at early in beta. The remaining share is judgement calls that still come back to you. This is our own working assumption rather than a measured industry figure, and we haven't yet published usage data from our own beta to replace it with a real one.
2.2 hrs/day
Our assumptionThe inbox-cost calculator's default slider assumes 2.2 hrs/day spent on email.
Our own rough translation of the volume in the "117 emails a day" and "interrupted every 2 minutes" telemetry above into a starting hours-per-day figure for the calculator: a derived estimate, never a distinct, separately-measured stat about hours spent on email. Move the slider to your own number; this default is only a starting point, never a claim.
We assume about 20% of the time Beemy hands back still goes to reviewing what it did: placing items it wouldn't guess, approving drafts, and answering escalations.
We have not measured this figure. Every draft still waits for a one-tap review until its category earns level 2, and only four categories (meeting_confirmation, scheduling_ack, simple_ack, routing_filing) can ever reach auto-send — see /what-you-still-do for the full case. Twenty percent is our own guess at what that ongoing review still costs you, not a study of it. Move the slider to your own number; this default exists to be replaced.
2.6 hrs/day, 6 days/wk, $45/hr, 120 min/wk
Our assumptionThe founders preset on the inbox-cost calculator starts from 2.6 hrs/day on email, a 6-day working week, $45/hr, and 120 min/wk of other recurring admin.
A starting point rather than a measurement of any real founder's time: an inbox that runs on customers, candidates and investors, a role that regularly spills into the weekend, and a recurring investor update.
2.8 hrs/day, 5 days/wk, $55/hr, 150 min/wk
Our assumptionThe team managers preset on the inbox-cost calculator starts from 2.8 hrs/day on email, a 5-day working week, $55/hr, and 150 min/wk of other recurring admin.
A starting point, not a measurement of any real manager's time: more 1:1s than hours in the day, plus a recurring status update.
1.8 hrs/day, 5 days/wk, $40/hr, 180 min/wk
Our assumptionThe working parents preset on the inbox-cost calculator starts from 1.8 hrs/day on email, a 5-day working week, $40/hr, and 180 min/wk of other recurring admin.
A starting point, not a measurement of any real parent's time: less clear runway for email between two inboxes, plus the class newsletter and other recurring reading a work-only figure would miss.
3 hrs/day, 5 days/wk, $65/hr, 90 min/wk
Our assumptionThe consultants preset on the inbox-cost calculator starts from 3 hrs/day on email, a 5-day working week, $65/hr, and 90 min/wk of other recurring admin.
A starting point, not a measurement of any real consultant's time: three client inboxes instead of one, and a freelance rate that has to cover its own overhead.
